What else does a Canberra based author do as the cold weather creeps in, but escape to warmer climes?

Okay, light the fire, pop on your favourite fluffy jumper, heat up the hot chocolate... I actually really like the colder weather (with the caveat that I have access to comfy firesides, fluffy jumpers, and hot chocolate) but this weekend away in warmer climes held further enticements. Greenleaf Press were hosting a VIP Book Ma...

What can I say? In my last post I took you on a whirlwind tour of the latter part of 2017, and promised you and exciting start to 2018 - and exciting and fabulous it was - a trip down to the gorgeous Araluen Valley for a day with Jackie French alongside a very excited and happy group of SCBWI members, mostly from Canberra and Region, but some from further afield, too.

Other than that, it was a fairly quiet month, although I did enjoy a lovely morning with local SCBWI members and a couple of jetsetting visitors at Poppy’s (War Memorial cafe).

Here I am with with Nicole Godwin, Sheryl Gwyther from Queensland, Tania McCa...

Excellence in Children’s Books

In March, Canberra and region members of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators – SCWBI (affectionately known as Squibby) – got together for a wonderful evening, featuring talks by National Library of Australia publisher Susan Hall, visiting authors Susanne Gervay and Deborah Abela, and NLA authors Gina Newton and Tania McCartney.

As always, it was a value packed evening and well w...

The third book in the Trouble series about Georgia and her troublesome dragon was launched at Harry Hartog in Woden (here in Canberra) this month.

It was a great day where I got to meet lots of people who are getting to know Georgia and Trouble and enjoy reading about all their escapades.

Talking of book launches, I also took myself along to Tania McCartney's launch of This is Banjo Paterson.

Tania McCartney never goes halves in...
